타이미

20여 년 동안 래퍼로 활동하며 언어와 소리로 창작해온 나에게, 그림은 여전히 낯설고도 새로운 언어다. 음악과 회화는 닮아 있으면서도 분명히 다른 방식으로 감정을 전달한다. 그 미묘한 차이에 매료되어, 나는 지금 그림이라는 또 다른 방식으로 나의 이야기를 풀어내고 있다.

나는 창작을 할 때마다 스스로에게 질문을 던진다.
‘나는 행복한가?’, ‘나는 자유로운가?’, ‘행복하고 자유로운 삶이란 무엇인가?’

우리는 살아가는 과정 속에서 끊임없이 자신을 미루며 살아간다. 해야 하는 일들에 밀려 하고 싶은 일은 뒤로 밀리고, 하고 싶은 말은 삼켜진다. 조건에 맞춰 관계를 맺고, 상처받을까 두려워 마음을 닫는다. 더 강한 자극과 빠른 만족을 좇는 사이, 사람들은 점점 꿈과 웃음, 그리고 사랑을 잃어간다.

어린 시절의 우리는 더 자유롭고 솔직한 존재였다.
감정을 숨김없이 표현하고, 순수하게 사랑하며, 사소한 일에도 진심으로 기뻐하고 슬퍼할 줄 알았다. 무엇이든 될 수 있다고 믿으며, 거리낌 없이 큰 꿈을 꾸던 시기였다.

나의 작업은 그 시절의 감정과 태도를 다시 불러오는 과정이다.
캔버스 위에 등장하는 아이들은 단순한 인물이 아니라, 잊고 있던 감정과 자아를 비추는 하나의 매개체다. 나는 이 아이들을 통해 나의 감정을 투영하고, 동시에 보는 이의 마음속 어린 아이와 닿기를 바란다.

그림 속 아이들은 ‘무무(無無)’라 불린다.
무무는 무엇이든 담아낼 수 있고, 다양한 감정을 투영할 수 있는 백지 상태의 존재다. 텅 비어 있는 눈은 어른들이 잃어버린 꿈과 사랑을 상징하며, 보는 이로 하여금 묘한 공감과 낯선 감각을 동시에 느끼게 한다. 무무의 표정은 정해져 있지 않기에, 어떤 이에게는 웃고 있는 얼굴로, 또 다른 이에게는 무심하거나 쓸쓸한 얼굴로 보이기도 한다. 이는 각자가 잊고 있던 감정들을 스스로 투영해보게 하기 위함이다.

나는 그저 귀여운 것이 좋았다.
귀여운 것들을 바라보고 있으면 마음이 가벼워지고, 세상이 조금 더 밝아지는 것만 같다. 그래서 나의 그림은 부드럽고 여린 색들로 채워진 동화 같은 장면들 속에서, 솔직하고 따뜻한 감정을 담아낸다. 그 안에서 아이들은 어떤 말이든 할 수 있고, 무엇이든 될 수 있는 존재로 자유롭게 살아간다.

주로 오일파스텔을 사용하는 이유는, 그것이 어른이 된 내가 다시 쥐는 크레파스처럼 느껴지기 때문이다. 어린 시절 아무 이유 없이 색을 채우던 감각을 떠올리게 하고, 자연스럽게 깊은 몰입으로 이끈다. 최근에는 손으로 직접 그리는 핑거 페인팅을 통해, 계획되지 않은 감정과 순간의 에너지를 보다 직관적으로 담아내고 있다.

작업을 하다 보면 시간의 흐름을 잊은 채, 잠시 어린 시절로 돌아간 듯한 기분이 든다.
나의 그림들은 귀엽고 밝은 이미지 너머에, 솔직한 감정과 따뜻한 에너지를 담고 있다. 나는 캔버스 속 아이들을 통해 나의 자유와 행복을 표현하고 있다.

이 작업들이 전시장 한가운데서, 혹은 누군가의 일상 속 공간에서
작은 웃음과 사랑, 그리고 잊고 있던 마음을 다시 떠올리게 하는 계기가 되기를 바란다.


Having spent over 20 years as a rapper, creating through language and sound, painting still feels like a new and unfamiliar language to me. While music and visual art share similarities, they express emotions in fundamentally different ways. Drawn to this subtle difference, I began to explore painting as another way to tell my story.

Through my work, I often ask myself:
Am I truly happy? Am I living freely? What does it mean to live a happy and free life?

In the midst of everyday responsibilities, we tend to postpone our desires, suppress our emotions, and shape ourselves to fit expectations. In doing so, we gradually lose touch with our dreams, joy, and the way we once loved.

As children, we were more honest and free.
We expressed emotions openly, loved without conditions, and found meaning in even the smallest moments. We believed we could become anything.

My work is an attempt to reconnect with that state of being.
The children that appear in my paintings are not just figures, but reflections of forgotten emotions and inner selves. Through them, I hope viewers can revisit their own sense of freedom and happiness.

I call these figures “MUMU (無無).”
MUMU represents a blank, open state—capable of holding any emotion. Their empty eyes symbolize the dreams and love that adults often lose. With no fixed expression, they become a mirror, allowing each viewer to project their own feelings and interpretations.

I am drawn to softness and innocence.
Through gentle colors and childlike imagery, I aim to create a space where emotions can exist freely—where one can love, express, and imagine without hesitation.

I primarily work with oil pastels, as they feel like rediscovering crayons from childhood. They allow me to reconnect with a sense of pure immersion, free from intention or restriction. Recently, I have also been experimenting with finger painting to capture more instinctive and immediate expressions.

My paintings carry warmth and honesty beneath their soft and playful appearance.
Through these works, I express my own sense of freedom and happiness.

I hope my work can bring small moments of joy, warmth, and reflection—whether encountered in a gallery or within someone’s personal space.

당신이 사랑받을 때의 기분은 어떠한지 묻고싶다. 
누군가 나를 소중히 여기고, 세상에서 가장 아름다운 꽃처럼 대해줄때에 나는 얼마나 행복했던가. 가만히 눈을 감고 나를 부르는 아름다운 목소리에 귀 기울여 보면, 세상이 온통 아름답고, 눈부시며, 향기롭다. 
사랑받을 때의 당신이 느껴지길 바라는 마음을 담아. 
붓이 아닌 손가락 끝에 물감을 묻혀 그리는 핑거페인팅 기법을 통해 오롯이 손 끝으로 감정을 전해본다.
